Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), developed by Francine Shapiro, is an evidence-based therapy designed to help the brain process and heal from distressing or overwhelming experiences.
At times, difficult experiences can become “stuck,” continuing to show up as anxiety, emotional pain, negative beliefs, or body tension. EMDR works by helping the brain reprocess these experiences so they no longer carry the same intensity or impact.
During EMDR, clients briefly focus on aspects of a memory while engaging in guided bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements or tapping). This supports the brain’s natural ability to integrate the experience in a more adaptive way.
Over time, clients often notice that memories feel less overwhelming, reactions become more manageable, and new, more helpful perspectives begin to emerge.
EMDR is not about erasing the past—it’s about helping your system move forward with greater flexibility, clarity, and steadiness.

Missed Session and Late Cancellation Policy
Scheduled sessions are reserved specifically for you. If you need to cancel or reschedule, at least 24 hours notice is required.
If you call ahead, we will make reasonable efforts to work with you when unexpected circumstances arise, provided missed sessions do not become a pattern. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice may still be subject to a fee at the clinician’s discretion.
Sessions missed without notice will be assessed a $100 missed session fee. The card on file will be charged at the time of the scheduled session. This fee is not billable to insurance and is the responsibility of the client.
Additional sessions will not be scheduled or held until any outstanding balance related to missed session fees has been paid.
This policy helps ensure consistency of care and allows appointment times to be offered to others in need of services.
